Anyone every see on of these? A little clip showing them in action They look cool but probably way more trouble than they are worth.

Why would you want such an unnatural looking tank. I see problems with stuff like humidity, temp, and ventillation.

Easier to make a cage yourself.
"Unnnatural looking tank" ? What does that mean? Its the way you decorate them, not how the tank looks like.

Unnatural, meaning T's and lizards do not live underwater with fish. And I have an anole that everytime I stick a cricket in the cage next to it it tries to give itself brain damage by trying to go through the glass after it. I can't immagine how bad it would be if the anole saw fish swimming just out of reach. It would fracture its skull within a week.

True. I thought it was a regular aquaterrarium. My bad.

Pretty neat idea. They say "Terrarium inside an aquarium" but why make it so complicated, you could just stand an aquarium behind a terrarium... Ok, it wouldn't look exactly the same but it would be pretty close.

maybe they dont live underwater with fish.. but fish occur in many of the same areas, there are ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, creeks, ravines, even puddles with fish all around the globe.. there are some exceptions yes. but thats why there is a terrarium side, and an aquarium side, so the T or lizard doesn't have to "live underwater with fish". I see only one problem, vibration from the filter in the aquarium. but for some types of animal.. this might be perfect.. raise your feeder fish in the same tank as the animal who will eventually eat them. maybe a pacman frog, or some luna crabs. not sure how easily stressed either one is, ive got luna crabs, but i have them in a vibration free environment.

Its a cool idea but what I have always wanted is one giant aquarium that is half water half dirt substrate to have a realistic lake scenario. Then you could observe your fish and have T's, scorpions or herps in the same tank. This would be very complicated though and would take a lot of work and effort.

river tanks

I've had a couple of river tanks at school... I hate them!

They are not conducive to a happy life for most things I have tried in them. Danios were the only fish that seemed to deal well with the multi levels of water. Tree frogs don't like that much water below them and small lizards... well think about what the crickets are doing in a tank like that. The teacher next to me had a beautiful river tank until you looked closely; then you noticed it was all silk and fake animals... only life were the danios.

My best river tank setup was just nonvascular plants. I filled it up with mosses, hornworts, and liverworts. I was awesome until I infested my end of the hall with fungus gnats.

I currently have an empty one that I'd like to attempt mudskippers(maybe next school year)... the earth & space teacher in my school is a strict creationist (funny, they don't mention that kind of stuff before they earn tenure) and loves to tease me about keeping good lids on my tanks so my fish don't walk away.
