I've been wanting a vinegaroon for a while and I'm starting to actively look into getting ready to get one. I'd just like to hear what experienced vinegaroon keepers do, particularly regarding substrate as I keep finding conflicting info on whether to just use straight coco fiber or mix it with various other substrates to give it more rigidity so the animal can burrow without its burrow collapsing.
Also I cant seem to pin down a general consensus on humidity - with my tailless whip humidity is extremely important, is that not the case with whip scorpions? Some people seem to say they do fine with low humidity so long as they have some damp spots in their substrate and others have said keep humidity really high!
So just any advice from anyone who keeps vinegaroon on what you've found works well would be appreciated ☺

Deep moist substrate, if you're lucky you'll see them 4 months out of the year, for the American sp anyways.

I've been told the Asian sp don't do dormancy and are more terrestrial than fossorial, but I can't attest to that.

I just recently got mine and its still a tiny thing[not sure what instar since I dont know much about their life cycle yet] and im using potting soil mixed with a little sand. I put a little flat piece of cut cardboard tube in there that it kinda uses as a roof of sorts and then just digs a hole in the substrate. This is my first vinegaroon so dont take my word for much but it seems to be doing really well and is one of the most voracious eaters Ive had right up there with toe biters.

I got a vinegaroon about a month ago and the little guy is incredibly charming. I see him out almost every evening. I've fed him twice and it's amazing watching how he hunts and captures his prey. I can take pictures of his setup tomorrow for you if that would help but it's in a low profile creature enclosure that's bio active with 2 pothos plants.
