Lucky you!!! Should be a rewarding trip...

I think there are more that you haven't mentioned, as well as unnamed species still...

Yeah, I know - picky, picky, picky! But the plural of genus is genera.

And, visit http://research.amnh.org/entomology/spiders/catalog/THERAPHOSIDAE.html and do a search for "peru"

Hope this helps.

What part of Peru are you going to? I have only been there 8 times LOL.
Here are some highlights from a trip I made last November.
Keep in mind if you go next Summer, it will be "Winter" down there. July and August are 2 of the cooler months down there. Of course it isnt all that cold

Lets see...we will be going to Iquitos I know for sure, Lima, Cuzco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, Manu national park.....thats all I can remember right now. I will spend the majority of my time around Iquitos, we plan on staying in a jungle lodge. Is the rainy season a bad time to look for T's or any critters in general?

Look for Peru here:
http://tarantulas.tropica.ru/en/node/605

As far as I know, as I try to find them myself, there are no tarantulas around Lima. Studying the tourists market (framed tarantulas) I've found that the common are two species - Lasiodorides striatus and Pamphobeteus sp (with the similar appearence as hobby P. antinous).
I recommend You also to read the Rick West's article about his journey to Iquitos in British Tarantula Society Journal (of one of the 2005 or 2006 year issue).

With a PC and Netscape, Mozilla Firefox or even Micro$oft's Internet Explorer, merely press <Ctrl><F> and type the search string in the resulting box.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your Peruvian tarantulas!
