Hi,

Out of curiosity: Has any of your other pets ever bothered your tarantula(s) or the other way around?
I do not mean a cat that threw off the enclosure. Enclosures need to be placed safe from cats.

What am I talking about? Okay more specific questions:
- Was one of your pets seemingly scared of the tarantula or the tarantula of the pet? (My jumpers sometimes seem to startle when my guineapigs run around)
- Was one very interested ant watched forever? Did that matter to the tarantula? (I saw a video of a gecko just waaaatching)
- Did any react to hairs? If so in what way? (On a scale from dog sniffed it an sneezed or mouse in the same room had to bemoved because it couldn't breathe in there)
- Did a tarantula escape and your pet found it first? How did that go? (I am thinking about my parents dog standing in front of a big cellar(?) house (?) spider staring at it growling.... sry not my first language. The big black spiders sometimes living in houses)

Stuff like this. Other stories are welcome too. I just want to have the best plan on where to put it and want to take into account to not put it next to some other pet it should not be next to.

Or did it just completely not matter? Do your pets ignore the tarantula(s) and the tarantula(s) ignore your pets?

I've never had any the experiences mentioned, keep my dogs outside in a kennel and cats don't get in the T room.

I have had a T escape on me though a Poecilotheria Regalis, it disappeared in a crack in the wall, when I eventually got it back it had doubled in size, and I had a plaster job to do with the hole I made lol.

I got my dog when she was an older puppy, and worked with her from the beginning to train her not to bother tarantula enclosures. She ignores them completely now. Whenever I'm doing maintanenace, however, I usually put her in her crate since she sometimes tries to beg for attention while I'm doing things in enclosures. I've never had an issue since I deliberately trained her.

None of my dogs get a reaction from hairs since the spider room is pretty isolated. I also take preventative measures to stop the spread of urticating setae. I have hardwood floors and tile that I wipe down with wet paper towels after my maintenance. Doing this, I feel better of not spreading hairs in the spider room. I have heard of a YouTuber who does her routine maintenance on carpet in her spider room. The dogs come in the room after this and have reactions to the tarantula hairs. Unless you're in a situation like this, it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't even think my dogs know my tarantulas exist and vice versa.

No to all- my animals live a harmonious existence.

BTW Ts can barely see.

It’s the primates outside my home that do not.

My parents yorkshire terrier watched me feed my M balfouri. He also watched me feed my Nhandu tripeii.

Before my dad thought she had escaped, she went out and searched where we usually take her for a walk. In the end she was still in the house in my bedroom watching the tarantulas.

-scared of the tarantulas? Maybe the feeders, but not pets
-none of my dogs have ever paid any attention to tarantulas in enclosures....they do find the roach bin fascinating though.
-I've never seen any reaction to hairs, even when I was getting haired myself, or when packing them
-over the decades I've had a few instances of operator error, where I left an enclosure unsecured and had an escape....it was never an issue, in fact it was generally the dog that alerted me to the escapee.....I always pay attention when I can see the dog interested in something or some place out of the norm. A cat on the other hand, would probably pounce and kill.

My cat does not pay attention to the tarantulas or my feeder colonies. He does pay attention to one of the geckos, but that’s because my little Neytiri is on a nightstand next to the bed and my cat sleeps with me or hangs out on my bed a lot. He’s doesn’t even mess with the shelves because they’re all full

I lost a fireleg a long time ago because a cat jumped 7 feet up on a tv stand and knocked it over I got so mad I tossed the cat 🐱 and punched a whole in a hollow door. Never had any issues since. Besides the dog getting in my roach bin so I have to lock it.

Only one of my cats has made a single attempt to jump up on the spider desk -- if either of them is in the spider room with me (the door is always kept shut, and no cats or children under about 10 are allowed in there without an adult) they're much more likely to be watching "cricket TV" than showing any interest in the tarantulas...they're interested in things that actually move.
