I was wondering if I could get species recommendations for a second tarantula. My parents will not allow me to get a second tarantula but they did say someday I MAY be able to get one :angelic:. Ive been in the hobby for 10 months now and am currently keeping a 1.75" M. balfouri. My first tarantula was actually a Grammostola pulchra and I traded it for an M. balfouri. If I could get species recommendation for a suitable second tarantula that would be great! Thanks in advance!

I guess but in my opinion it cost a lot for the balfouri. But it was worth it!
For me a tarantula never costs really. The enjoyment, the years they live. It probably costs a few pence a day in you reckoned it up.

Honestly, if youre good on baboons, a pretty little something from the Avicularia/Caribena/Ybrapora genera shouldnt be a problem AT ALL. Absolutely beautiful and something other than a terrestrial. Or like cold blood said, go Psalmopoeus. Beautiful and fiesty

I mean if you've already got a baboon then maybe Augacephalus ezendami? Get them as slings, watch them grow-- they're awesome Ts.

As for NW, Pamphobeteus is a great genus but a little pricey. Then again so are G. pulchra and M. balfouri so maybe you don't mind that! P. cancerides are beautiful and feisty.

It may take awhile until my parents allow another tarantula in their house but until then, I have an opportunity to research all these suggested sp.

Ybrapora sounds interesting, do you have photos of mature females? Any sp. will do!

Oh, i only wish i did. Spend a few minutes googling Y. diversipes and you'll be in love. I grouped those three together because most of them are pretty similar from what ive gathered. Y. diversipes and Caribena versicolor (those are probably the most popular) used to be in Avicularia, thats how similar they are. All i have at the moment (so far as avics amd cousins go, anyways) is my Avicularia avicularia, but she's beautiful! The diversipes is baaasically a more reflective, rainbowy, fluffy version of this.

Note to self: get a new picture of this one to show off... this one is quite old.
