Tarantula Species Master List?

has anyone ever underwent the attempt to make a master list of all known or most popular Ts in excel with general information such as:
Type of T
General size
Location
Beg int adv
Life span
Yada yada yada

I have started one for my 1 Tarantula and will add to it as I acquire more. I also have a lot of time to kill and in my head it seems like a valuable asset. Granted I know every t is different but wouldn’t it be cool for someone new to the habit look on a giant list and find the perfect species for them?

I did a lot of research before I got my little girl and I have @coldblooded to prove that I was still lost. My research involved YouTube, reading articles, reading forums and such.

I can imagine keeping a list in my phone and someone selling me a T I don’t have or am familiar with and I could instantly look at it and know that the P. Metallica is going to be an arboreal t that builds dense webs and I will rarely see her so I can avoid buying a pet web, or pet hole, or like my avic, a pet statue cause she rarely moves lol.

Again it would be a HUGE undertaking but would it be worth it? Or is google better?

Once you lurk on the board long enough, these information becomes common sense. I can see it might be useful for beginners or tarantulas in rare genus.
You can always start a google sheet and share it with us.

I believe Tarantulapedia (i think that's what the website is called?) keeps that general info in their species writeups, but if you feel like undertaking the task of compiling a google spreadsheet of that info to share with others it couldn't hurt at all. Could be pretty useful for people looking for quick general info who don't want to leaf through pages of filler text.

I’ll do some google searches today. I don’t think it would be a thing people would use often.

I know for me it would help being new. That way instead of asking the age of question of “what next” I could look at the whole list for ones that fit my criteria.

I’ll look into the wiki thing. Maybe I can help them or vice versa

There is so many different species of tarantulas it is very overwhelming as someone that is new to the hobby.
I have only started to see species of Brachypelma for sale I never knew existed.

Now if you had a list of known species you would know they exist just not a visual.

I know if you search the Genus on Wikipedia it will list all known species but that’s about it. Most of the species are hyperlinked to nowhere.

The world spider catalog has all described tarantula species and their countries of origin listed, along with links to scientific papers you could maybe use for more info: https://wsc.nmbe.ch/family/100/Theraphosidae

Might be a good place to start if you're wanting to put together a big list like you're describing. Would be a lot of work!

If you would like to take on a project like that, then have at it! It will do more good than harm. If you want to set up a shareable google spreadsheet, I'd be more than happy to contribute and I'm sure that other people would as well. I've recently done the same for a friend who needed similar information for her biology thesis.
However, a lot of the information that you mention in your initial post is opinion/anecdotal based - like Beginner vs Advanced, life span, and size. You're going to have to do a lot of reviewing and assessing of averages before releasing if you want it to be as accurate as possible.
The WSC is a good resource, but it covers all described species and not just the ones who are currently available in the hobby - in addition to not including hobby species that are not yet properly described. My suggestion would be to first review what is available on all the major dealers websites, in all countries, and then offer it to hobbyists to fill in the gaps.
It would also require an almost constant updating as new species enter the hobby and any taxonomy changes that are made to the existing ones.
This is not a small project, by any means.

I love the idea of such list existing, but I'm not sure about right way of choosing information or implementing it, especially that opinions of many people would vary.

edit: Instead of species I think it would be much easier would be to make a general genus master list with general idea what tarantulas in specific genus are like.
I just remembered there's one polish portal, they have many sites for specific species, however at this point I wouldn't be surprised if the information was already outdated.
