I've thought about this for quite a while now and couldn't find anything similar. There needs to be an annual pricing guide (magazine or website) for pricing t's, scorps. They do it for gold and guns, why not t's? Just like a gun buyers guide, you could have articles\stories in the front and a pricing guide in the back. It would make for some great reading. Your thoughts?

I think it should be similar to comic books. You have newletter that comes out with all the prices from various dealers and breeders.

It would be great, but prices are highly dependant on location and they also vary throughout the year.

Since this hobby is comparatively smaller than the gun and gold trade, you just kinda have to look around at prices and either try to beat them or set yours at something similar. People will negotiate with you if they don't like your prices, or you can adjust them to the demand (or, more likely, the lack thereof).
The pricing guide thing would be nice, but it just seems impractical and mostly unnecessary.

Thats why I think a primary listing source that came out once every 3 months or so would be great. It could show price hikes and drops just like in the comic book business.

It may seem unecessary but to have a primary listing of various prices would actually help the hobby a lot, and give people a chance to buy from a breeder directly or a dealer.

Set it up kinda like High Times THMQ and it would be interesting to see the variance between location, genus, species, etc. It would also help dealing with people on Craigslist.:o_O: I was reading a gun buyers guide and the thought just crossed my mind again. It would make for good reading material. One day you open up your price guide and see B. albo's are up 5 points or dollars or whatever and your like "Now's the time to sale." Or you look and B. albo's are down, so you decide to wait and sit on the lot of slings you have until the "market" picks back up. I feel I'm rambling now. I'll try to refrain from posting my random thoughts.

But what if I want one that is blue phase, then I would know I could go to Craigslist for one. LMAO just kidding.

I disagree, you can account for regional differences with a *lowest price*, a *mean price* and a *highest price* so people could see the possible range of prices, with the lowest anywhere, the average of all advertised prices and also the highest out there. I think that would be a great resource for people in general.

An interesting idea, but I don't think it is practical. Tarantulas are always bred - specific comics have a set print run. Same with guns - only so many were manufactured. Not only that but, but the time the data is published, it is already about a month or so behind the market. Maybe a search engine that gathers current price lists from major vendors could be made and efficiently used, but I think a printed guide is fairly impractical.

I saw that travesty on CL. Sometimes you just have to sigh and shake your head. For instance they could put ID photos and descriptions of subtle differences between species in the guide to help people identify what they have. I mean seriously, how much do you think that guy wanted for a "blue phase minatrix?" Probably quite a bit, BUT with the pricing guide... If such a thing existed I would subscribe to it.

Good point, a website would be easier.
