I was feeding my tarantula and I saw it coke out so I recorded it hopefully to have a cool feeding video when it started to freak out and I noticed it had its leg stuck in its web. And then it proceeded to flail around and land on the ground. I think it’s in death curl but it’s twitching a lot. It’s a heteroscodra. Is it dead? Can it die like that?

Nah it perfectly normal for H.macs to go on a coke binge and get caught in their own webbing. Totally fine.... Unless pics or it never happened....

What's it look like now, did it curl or move around, or is it still twitching? been an hour.

I’ve been searching for hours to figure this out. I assumed he got stuck in his web but I think he might have had a seizure and got itself all caught in the web. I’ve watched my video so many times now. Oogie boogie has passed now. I hope it wasn’t anything I did that caused this. I have 3 other tarantulas and I do not want to repeat this if it was my fault.

I've seen that. I don't know what I did either, likely not enough to drink, but too damp/stuffy, but I didn't ever figure it out. Dehydration is the most likely cause of loss of motor control but it could be all sorts of things. chemicals, parasites, luck of the draw

Sorry for your loss

Thank you, I’m wondering if he was like this before but because he hides I couldn’t see it until the very end. The T had finished molting 5 days prior. The molt was perfect. This was its first feed after. I did most the tank and had a full water dish through the process.

Hard to tell, mine was walking fine before, it was cleaning itself and started twitching and fell off a branch upside down and couldn't flip back over. At first I thought there was a chance it was molting so I left it alone for an hour or so. It went into a death curl, so I moved it into a small container, put a drop of water on it's mouth and it uncurled and still twitched but was basically paralyzed, pooped on day 3 still paralyzed, slowly it twitched less over the next few days, and curled again and passed on about day 8. ~1" H. pulchripes

I figured perhaps it was poisoned, or bitten by something very tiny like a baby Latrodectus, it came on instantly.

Wow what “great” pics
Oh @viper69 you are just still such the curmudgeon! Lol…
But for real, my Ts have found my stash too… they started stealing from me and then I’d find spoons and lighters littered throughout their cages. Then came the expensive rehab stints… all bad, bro. Just say no!

All I expect is people who post pics do ONE thing

1. Check their images so they are in focus!🤣🙄

That’s not an unrealistic expectation at all!!! 😝

Nice to see you’re still around!!!

I’ve seen some bad pics look like they were taken with a 2001 phone on here haha 😆🚐… people ask for help I can see anything.. :pics:
some people would not post pics because they think the spider was so rare no one’s seen hundreds of pics of them..
