I have read many pages and articles an everyone says that its good to feed your tarantula with crikets worms and bugs, my worms just
transformed into house flys so i fed her/him with flys,
can someone tell me is it good or bad this and why, for a short period of time to give her flys.?
i have a.versicolor.

Thanks ahead

For small slings flies are fine. The only problem I can see is if it can fly, and the spiders's not an arboreal, it might be hard for the spider to catch it.

That's the reason I'm contemplating feeding maggots to my slings, if it's not eaten right away and it pupates into a fly it's still food!

R: Tarantula feeding with flys

Since you have an arboreal T you.can do that if you manage not to get crazy with flies...

You can feed flies, but I'd support that diet with other feeders.

Maggots will do fine, I have not ever used them exclusively though. I attempt to offer variety in the diet.

Thanks for the info,i will also use maggots but in my town there is lack of this kind of stores and its cold outside so i can find some, so for now flys and latter maggots and crickets.

I don't know what things are like where you are, but here, mail-order feeders are an option, or a roach colony (if you're so inclined). You might check the classifieds here or search online and see if you can find a dealer to ship you feeders.

Good luck!

Here you can not find colonies to buy in person, and the sending by mail and online orders is sci-fi. :D

In the past, I've fed fruitflies to small slings after running out of pinhead crickets. For a short period of time, I see no problem with feeding flies; just don't make it a staple.

The only problem with flying insects, is most of the ones that are obtainable, are locally caught moths or flies that are possibly carrying pesticides. The fact that you raised them, makes them fine.

I've always wanted to see how well the arboreals deal with flying insects, but never got the chance XD
