Hi all!
Grabbed this sweet little guy(vendor thinks boy based on size) yesterday during Repticon and I was wondering if anyone is able to tell the specific species since it wasn’t labeled.
As far as sexing goes, do you need a molt the same way you would a T or is it more complicated?
I also noticed these white dots around their eye area, does anyone have an idea of what that is possibly?
I’ve handled them once, they have all legs, etc and acted very normal but I’ve never owned a whip scorpion, just 18 T’s 🤭😂 IMG_3773.jpeg

That is a Phrynus whitei. For sexing you'll probably need a molt. Nice healthy animal you've got there!

Thank you!
I just googled some info about the whitei and they apparently get up to a 4”5 inch leg span, is that correct? If so, that’s awesome! If not, that’s perfectly okay too 😊
That makes sense!

IME they don't get quite that big, maybe 3-3.5" as adults, with the males being a good bit leggier.

That’s still great to hear! I was perfectly happy with this one being on the smaller side, but I keep tarantulas too so larger is always better 😁
