My female Damon Diadema has eaten 1-2 medium sized crickets each night for about a week now. Is this normal for pre-molt or should I start dieting her?
Haha yep those where my thoughts as well, I just wanted to confirm if my suspicions where correctMost invertebrates are ambush predators, and will eat whenever they can, since in nature they never know when their next meal will be. If you think it's eating too much, stop feeding it. Post a picture of your critter, people here can tell you if it's looking chunky!
Well I originally found her outside about 2 weeks ago, I'm usually scared of spiders but for some reason Tailless Whip Scorpions don't frighten me so I decided to try this whole pet Amblypygi. I did tones of research on these creatures and lernt quite a bit about them. The first week I had her she didn't eat anything, I started to get worried after all the research I did saying they ate about twice a week, so when she finally started eating I didn't want to starve her and just kept feeding. However I'm now realising how much she's actually eating and decided to ask the experts (you guys?).feeding one every night is already way too much, feeding them 1-2x a week is better. Just curious but why on earth were you feeding every night?
She's definitely looking chunky! You don't need to feed her for a while.Well I originally found her outside about 2 weeks ago, I'm usually scared of spiders but for some reason Tailless Whip Scorpions don't frighten me so I decided to try this whole pet Amblypygi. Haha nope I'm pretty sure its wild, my country I've inputed is incorrect. Thaught it might help with where the comment ends upThis is really surprising; IME they basically don't eat past satiation, and will frequently refuse food for no reason at all.
Also weird that you found it outside; must be an escapee or release, I guess.
