Has anyone seen anything like this before? The spider moves around the enclosure and seems undisturbed by the split. It is shiny and black underneath, but doesn't appear to be leaking. I'd think molt, but weird to have it moving. The abdomen seems huge, but this sling is a very sporadic eater. I think it's eaten only like 3 pre killed crickets since its last molt 4-5 weeks ago.

I did find this thread with a very similar issue. Resolved there as a molt, so I'll hope for the best.

I had a similar thing years ago with an A. Gen. It was overfed and moulted but still huge after the moult and that split appeared like the day after the moult. It never ate a thing and moulted around 3 months later and everything turned out fine. Still don't know the exact cause of it but im guessing it had something to do with the size of the abdomen straight after the moult. It also had a sort of mark like bald patch where the split was after the moult but again that was away on the next moult

Suggest keeping T. stirmi somewhere Quiet and Secluded, and Undisturbed.
Hoping for a Successful Healing Molt in the Future.
Best Wishes to Stirmi & You,
Legs and Fingers Crossed.

Update on this: the sling survived molt just fine and is now a happy slightly bigger spider :) (with a normal size abdomen.)

I was going to tell you this is a sign its going to molt, and to be patient.

I had the same thing happen to me. I saw that and, a drop of liquid. I can assure you i was freaking out. But i saw it drop webbing and i knew it was huge and nearing molt.

Congrats on the new outfit!

You just gained some points in the premolt experience levels 🏆
