About 3:20ish this morning I got one of the most awesome early birthday presents.so check it out.

I wake up feeling something crawling on my legs in bed instantly I think Houdini has escaped again(Houdini is my Tokay who is aptly named because this happens all the time how he does it is beyond me I've tried almost everything to keep him in)so I throw the sheet over and fold it up so he cant escape.I unfold the sheet to grab him up and it's not him it's My OBT big mama(so I thought) so I get to wondering how the heck she got out and how she got out of the T room and into mine. So I take her back in a sleepily daze and open up the enclosure to a big orange beast giving me a threat display which freaks me the heck out and wondering WTF...it's not big mama I have in the deli cup it's an escapee from a year ago that I lost when a stupid drunk friend let it loose and I never recovered it..I looked all over and put down sticky traps and the whole nine yards never found it..until now..the only thing I can think of is it's been living in the basement on water bugs and other things that are down there and got brought up with the laundry.tomorrow I'm gonna go investigate the basement with a fine tooth comb to see where it's been living.

She had been missing for about a 1 1/2 yrs.Houdini never stays out longer than a few hours.no I didn't get startled because I thought it was Houdini at first and then it was more of an annoyance when I thought it was my other OBT. I'm still looking for a nesting ground in the basement I checked the attic already with no luck..*note this isn't the first escapee I've had the first was a very nasty and very bite happy H.maculata that was gone for about a day and then I lost my P.ornata for about a year and found her in the shower

I'd rather my OBT crawling on my then our crazy tokay.

Although, yours may be one of the rare docile ones. Ours would probably eat our fingers while we slept.

That's so awesome that you found her...or well, that she found you.

I found the nesting spot..it was under my dryer, a place I would have never checked.

the first time this happened was with the H.mac, when I opened the enclosure to feed she flew out at my face and I lost her it didn't take to long to find her.and then it was my pokie,I underestimated how fast they can really be being it was my first time keeping pokies.I knew it was still alive because I kept finding food carcasses and exo's and then one day it showed up in the shower looking like crap but with a enclosure and TLC turned out to be one of my most beautiful pokies and then drunk friends happen.

there's nothing docile about Houdini when he bites it hurts and he'll do it every chance he gets,he's like a pit bull with scales, but his girlfriend is really relaxed.

:wall: You'd think someone who keeps "creepy, nasty, icky" spiders wouldn't perpetuate stereotypes about other animals, when you probably try to dispel ones about Ts all the time

Anyways, glad your OBT found its way back to ya

it was meant in the sense of tenacity and stubbornness in their unwillingness to not let go of something it wants.

The only long term escapee's I've had has been my Pokie and the OBT..the terms of escape wasn't how secure the enclosure was ,it was too complete human error on my part..1 by not locking the T room door while having guests and 2 by underestimating the speed of that species due to inexperience with them.
I've been meaning to upload a slew of pictures but have never found the time, and probably will when my brother returns with my camera from his vacation now that I have alot of time on my hands.

I see you live here in Columbus. I can see why it found you. It is cold out there. It wanted a warm body to snuggle with.

Ahh! a fellow Ohioan..that was the same thought that ran through my head considering it is freezing outside and my basement is now around 58* it kinda makes sense that it hitched a ride upstairs with the nice warm laundry which was stationary right next to the nesting spot of the dryer.
