Super Slow Growing Species?

I was wondering what people on here have seen to be the slowest growing species of tarantulas to be?

I have heard King Baboons can be very slow growing taking up to 8 years to mature and some Bracky's taking a long time as well.

But based on your actual experience what species are the slowest growing? For me among species I would have to say that Rose hairs, and Blue Fangs are my slowest with slings of each molting only once in 9 months, while slings of LP's in the same time have molted 8 times.

Thanks for your reply!

Euathlus spp. come to mind. Those quadrouples I've here are a little over 1 year old and STILL only 1" in size! ;) Chris can probable attest to their extremely slow growth rate ;)

My damn P.langenbucheri for some reason
Mine is going into premolt again already...(weekly feeding) :D Eats like a pig once it molted, then stops eating alltogether and some weeks / a month later I find a molt suddenly.

I forgot to mention A. amazonica - BOTH of the couple I have grow slower than any of the other Avics I'm raising...it's insane!

A for my slowest growers, A. versicolor slings are my slowest arboreal,) the P. irminia have quadroupled them in same time, and pokies, P. miranda even faster)). As for terrestrials, Aphonopelma. hentzi are pretty fast growers gaining a good size in each molt and have molted around five times this year, the G. pulchripes, N. chromatus, B. smithi, and LP's are all super slow reaching a little over an inch in the first year, of course temp and food intake can make more molts, I still see little growth in size with said molts. The best thing to do is have like ten different species at least, and enjoy them all for their various attributes. With this said I can not even emphasize how cute my N. chromatus, and B. smithi are with their first traces of knee lines starting to show.

Man I have been feeding ours every other day until they molt. Not even 3 inches yet, probably a molt or two away still....I bought M.robustum slings at the same time and those are 4 inch females already.Slowest growing Psalmo I have seen.

My A. amazonica I got at .5' in May 2012, it is now 2.5' plus, it just molted yesterday, my brothers juruensis(s) are the same size and I got them for him June 2011. I feed both the same amount, So in my experience juruensis are a slower growing Avic.

Plesiopelma

Not a commonly kept Genus, but I got some Plesiopelma sp. "Bolivia" back in November of 2008 ( 4 years ago ). They were about 1/4" when I got them and they are about 3/4" now. They are kept in a heated cabinet and fed weekly.

Yours is way bigger than mine, though! The one I've here is at the 1" mark currently and molted 09/23/12 & 10/21/12 so far...I'm assuming it'll molt some time within the upcoming 3 weeks again ;)

G. rosea, Euathlus (all species), B. boehmei and some of the other Brachypelma, I second the vote for T. cupreus which never seems to grow... hmmm... probably the Euathlus are the slowest in my experience. My sp. red slings are yearlings and don't seem to have changed size at all. One of the two boehmei I have is also not growing, the other is a bit faster.

I totally agree with Philth on Plesiopelma sp Bolivia. Same here, nothing much happened to my spiderlings since 2008 either ...

Seems to be a common opinion on Grammostola, Euathlus, and i expect those Homoeomma sp sold as Euathlus, so really anything Chilian with type IV urticating hairs then, from the colder regions... and for me all these are slow compared to any Brachypelma or Aphonopelma.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I ask this question in part because I am trying to find species that are likely to live the longest.

I want to conduct a long term which species lives the longest and maybe even officially break some world records for longest lived tarantula. Anyway...

I am pretty interested in Plesiopelma sp Bolivia, that species grows really slow! Wow...the only other one I have heard of that is almost as slow is the B Schroderi (probably spelled that wrong).

Anyway, thanks for the replies, and if anyone has a place to get a Plesiopelma sp Bolivia specimen I may be interest!
