Great find! I'm going out today to see what we can find. I'm hoping for another Eastern Diamondback!

I've never been interested in animals that could kill me, but thats an atractive little fellow. I came across a FAT eastern diamond back while walking down a Florida trail, it was probably 5 feet long. It never did rattle and I nearly stepped on it. It was quite a scare since I was far from the main park.

So, you've moved to SC permanently now? There's some awesome herping down near Charleston. My friends Heyward and Ted Clamp own the Edisto Island Serpentarium on Edisto Island, a place you should visit. I love to visit the Low Country, for the snakes AND the food, but I've never been fortunate enough to come across an EDB in the wild. Where I live we only have Canebrakes-lots and lots of Canebrakes-though we're supposed to have Pygmies, I've never found one of those around here, either.
