The boy is Patrick's and was at my house for about 5 hours...then the tapping started. I didn't plan to attempt anything 'till at least tomorrow, but they wanted to do it - NOW.

Here's the boy:

Here's the girl:

And they like each other {D :

So true, not to rain on the parade but they can mate but not get a viable egg sac, keep your fingers crossed, proof is in the sac, but they had fun anyway{D

Guys, don't be silly. It was a successful MATING, not a successful breeding - yet.

That's why I chose the term mating. They MATED, it went off beautifully and without a hitch, but we do not yet know if a "breeding" has been successful. I realize that it could be months and months before Sable considers producing a sac, but there's no reason to not be excited about the first step!!

I'm familiar with all that terminology after about 12 years of selectively breeding animals. ;)

It's a good first step, and it is exciting for it to start out so easily. :) Made my day, anyway.

Sable molted about a month ago, so she has probably a year to think about making a sac. I won't lose hope till she molts or makes a sac and eats it. ;)
