My Armadillidium V. culture has recently been dying out. Through my research, I've deduced that it may be due to the substrate they're currently being kept in. I received this culture from my teacher, and it looks to me like he used a type of potting soil, which isn't inherently bad, but this soil has the "plant food" beads and pearlite. I think the substrate must be the problem, as everything else seems up to par based on what I've found.
Now for the substrate, I currently own cocoa fiber, so I'd prefer to use some to make it more cost effective. My current idea is 1/3 cocoa fiber, 2/3 peat moss, with charcoal, springtails, and leaf litter throughout. I would also add cork bark, sticks, and a little bit of moss on the top of the substrate. Is this a good substrate for backyard rollie pollies?
I also have snails in the same tank, so I'd also like to know if this is a good setup for their needs![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
