Well, the mushrooms still keep growing and they're really starting to piss me off so I guess I'm going to have to clean out the tanks and start over with new substrate. I was using an inch of top soil and then another inch or two of peat moss. Can I just use peat moss by itself? I was thinking of packing about an inch layer wetting it a little and then adding another layer or two like that. My T's are a g. rosea, imp. scorp, and stas. robertsi. What's really wierd is that I'm using the same exact setup in my millipede tank(a little more humid though) but no mushrooms have grown at all!

I know some people use only peat moss in their setups. I've gone through a number of different configurations and have settled on a nice mix of plain potting soil (2 parts) and that compressed jungle earth that comes in a brick for $4 (1 part).

I used to have problems with plain potting soil growing mushrooms from time to time, but with the mixture of jungle earth I haven't seen a single one - this stuff is made of finely shredded coconut husks which are known to be resistant to mold and fungus, though this is debatable.

You might also consider nuking or baking your substrate before adding it to yer cages - though I found this practice to be a bit tedious and annoying with each subsequent cleaning/replacing so now I just use the stuff straight from the bag.

Good luck!

Although the spider won't appreciate it a great deal, move the offending tank where it can get more sunlight. Within a week the 'shrooms will be gone
