Well last summer we bought 6 unsexed pokie slings.

Guess what?! 6 pokies...6 males.

What are the chances that EVERY single one is male. For those of you who're curious, we've got formosa, metallica, miranda, ornata, pederseni, and rufilata. I give up.

Not really, but it's still lame. As of shipping season we're ordering at least two of every species. Maybe we'll get lucky and get at least one female next year.

That's all. I just couldn't believe that not a single one was female. I wanted the formosa to be female the most out of all 6, even more so than the metallica but noooo.

AND! Our rufi is named Andariel the Maiden of Anguish. That doesn't work now!

My rant is over. I'm just flabbergasted, at work, and bored.

wow, bad odds. 1/64 odds. How big were they when you ordered them? If you want to be REALLY cynical, you could say that whoever sold them may have been holding back the slings that looked female. But if they were all ~1" or so when you bought them I doubt that would be the case.

If it makes you feel any better, other than my regalis communal which I know has at least a couple females, I have 5 pokies and 4 of them I am guessing are males. I'm looking to buy a larger guaranteed female just cuz I'm tired of the bad luck.

They were all 3/4" - 1" when we bought them so there's no way. Ridiculous.

Jairi, we definitely plan on sending all these bad boys out on loans. I'd imagine they'll all get snatched up pretty quickly in Canada. Especially that metallica. Him, the miranda and the pederseni should all become ultimate males in late summer, so any Canadians out there who want dibs....

Our male situation is crazy, not even counting the pokies. Out of our 76 T's, 9 are female, and two of them were BOUGHT as females. Males, on the other hand, we have 17, including the pokies. None of them were bought as males. The rest are just slings, but I can just imagine what they're going to turn out to be.

PS that rufi is definitely keeping his name, for a while we thought our P. irminia was male (named Aphrodite) and I wasn't even going to change that, but she had spermathecae on her last exuvium, so at least we've got that going for us, haha

usually I take 10 or 12
and few time all end up been males, ha, what are ya gona do

Mack&Cass .. I have had my fair share of misfortune of bad luck when it comes to slings and juvies molting and ending up being male or MM.... but your luck will change just like mine.... and then you will be on the hunt looking for a MM to mate with your beloved females lol ...
