The daughters and I took a quick 20 minute walk on friday. We discovered several tarantula burrows open for customers. The invertebrate life seemed to be bustling even in the slightly chilly weather. Okay, chilly for Southern California for this time of year. The highlight of the walk is that we saw this beauty while we were out! What a looker! Enjoy!

Lelle,

No helleri yet! I almost always see one out cruising when temps are just a bit warmer. The temperature was below room temperature yesterday. I thought I might spot one basking off the side of the road, but no such luck. The grasses are tall and can hide plenty of snakes so I didn't take the kids off the road. It is nerve racking even for me to walk through the tall grass knowing how many rattlesnakes are in the area. :)
