So my A. Chalcodes has stopped avoiding the substrate the last few days and I'm curious if she is in a stress pose or this is a normal relaxed position this is the first time I've seen her not quite so balled up hiding her eyes since I rehoused her. 20200423_033735.jpg 20200423_033601.jpg 20200423_033927.jpg 20200423_034512.jpg

Hi
This is a normal pose for a T.I will dry out the substrate. They prefer it dry (at least mine does)Maybe thats why she is avoiding the substrate. Its common for Ts to go on the sides of the enclosure if substrate is too wet for their liking.
She is a looker :)

Yea I had a slight spill with a cup of water trying to fill her water dish yesterday, had a kitten try to climb my bare leg.
How would I go about drying it out? I'm trying to avoid disturbing her too much she's been through a lot the last few weeks, I want to try to avoid changing her enclosure if at all possible.

Edit: the substrate was dry until yesterday.

As others have said this looks normal. Its also quite usual for a T to act a little "off" after being rehoused.

That pot broken at the bottom? Better off if it is. But the T looks fine. Give it time. Try and have patience friend.

She has also spent the last 2 hours putting all her paws in her mouth and rubbing her legs all over and seems to be cleaning her fangs, I'm guessing she is grooming herself, which (please correct me if I'm wrong) this means she is content with herself.

Aka. Happy tarantula. :)

For future reference, these are stress poses - legs curled in tightly with the knees coming up over and shielding the carapace.

Thank you for the reference photos they help me clear up what the difference between stress pose and just normal T pose.

She also did that a lot after I rehoused her, also did that when hanging from the side as well. Thankfully she has stopped doing both those things.

I do thank everyone for their response, and I apologize if some of these questions are a bit newbish, but I see this site and all of you as a resource to help me get this right, I'm of the mindset that the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask.
