I was out recently looking for a new bug for my collection. I live in Orlando, FL... so I tried a state park, where I found several florida blue pedes before. I ended up finding a florida blue, but as I was leaving I flipped over my last log. A centipede I've never seen before appearded, a dull orange. I of course took it home. And upon further examination...the centipede had a tail like no other I've seen before. At the end of the trunk instead of having longer leg-like extentions...there was a pair of "snippers" for lack of a better word. I'm no expert when it comes to pedes...I've never really kept them before. But this one I knew did not fit in, it was blind...no eyes. And they tail extentions are like the 2 "fangs" but longer. I dared myself to test them out. And had a nasty nip, but not with the front fangs. But with the back. It hurt just as much as a bee sting, so I assumed there's venom back there? A centipede that can sting with it's tail? Over the past two days I've been feeding it termites. The thing ate none-stop. I could hold it, and it would still eat. I recently looked up centipede keys...but none of them had these two pincer-like tail extentions instead of the longer back legs. Like I said, it's blind. It's a dull orange color, and has around 21-23 segments, or leg pairs. The little guy is only about an inch and a half though. But still is pretty feisty. My camera is out of batteries for now, but it still won't take a decent picture of this small guy. But I'm sure it'll be focused enough to see the end of the trunk. Any idea what it is?
