Strange bug

Holy crap! where did you find such a thing? I wish I could ID it for you but......Yeah im sure its an alien.

If it's not a facehugger, than a caterpillar of Stauropus fagi (a moth in the Notodontidae family). Eats oak, beech, hazel and birch. Try to rear it, it'll become a nice fluffy moth.

LOL. I was gonna say that it's the alien/predator hybrid.

That is EXTREMELY cool!

I wondered if it might be a caterpillar as it looked like it was holding onto the branch w/ a number of other legs. Very bizarre.

WOW, that is amazing! I don't think i've ever seen a caterpillar with thoracic legs that protrude as long as that. I'd have to say that's one of the best forms of mimicry/defense i've seen among larval Lepidopterans. Very nice find! :clap:
