Got this adult female Eucratoscelus pachypus for £10 today.

Does anyone happen to have a male of this species they would like to loan for a 50/50 mating? :)

The temperament while not Docile by any stretch of the imagination is nowhere near as aggresive as Pterinochilus sp for example

Yes, indeed they are quite aggressive but I would say the OBT is more aggressive than the stoutlegs. I just recently bought one about 3 weeks ago. Very cool burrowers...check out the last 2 legs.

how big is it? it looks huge
Actually they are a smaller species, they don't get all that large once they are full grown

I've got a female myself, so I think we're both out of luck. I think mine is going to molt soon as well. And as usual I seem to have gotten an exceptionally calm "aggresive spider".

Actually, by all accounts I've heard from people who have one, myself included, these guys are rather calm for a baboon species. Mine, while skittish is by no means aggressive. I could handle her quite easily whereas I wouldn't dare try scooping up my other baboons. I love these guys and would love to have a few more...a male would be nice too. :D
Right now mine is about 3 inches. If memory serves, they only get about 4 inches I believe and yes, they are quite the burrowers but mine isn't a pet hole either as long as there isn't light shining on her or in her tank she'll come out and run around.

Mine pretty much stays in her hole. She comes out to explore/hunt at night but mostly stays inside. Neither my OBT nor this one ever display any aggresive/overly defensive tendencies. My feeling is as long as they have a safe place to hide and we don't go poking around at them they won't feel the need to be defensive. My Stout leg has a very long ab..I was noticing it last night. Long and kind of peanut shaped. Anyone else have one that looks this way? I will try to get a pic to post.

Mine is very docile. I pick it up easily and it never shows any sign of nervousness or aggressivness. I have also been told the venom is quite potent, but mine seems very content to save it for the crickets.

Their back legs are an adaptation for burowing, especially in harder soil. My thought is that they also serve to help secure them in the hole as they ambush from it. Either by being stronger by comparison or just the added bulk.

I just pick up a 2" specimen of this species today, we'll have to see if it is male or female. It was labelled as a feather leg but it is definitely not a S.calceatum and it looks just like the photos on this thread, thats why I bought it.

Are they sexually dimorphic? I thought someone once mentioned that the males do not have the stout legs like the feales do, but a more normally sized leg.

Does anyone know if they are like other species that look the same until the final molt of the male? Or does the male look different all its life?

Afaik the male's never get a incrassate leg IV,most of them imported are to large to be male that said you can get lucky and buy a female that drops or even find an egg sac in the tub you buy one in ;) dont know if this is any good but looks ok so far.
