im really intrested in getting a Fresh Water Stingray, Potamotrygon Leopoldi, Potamotrygon Henlei or Potamotrygon Laticeps so i have been doing a lot of research.

I was just wondering if anyone in these forums has had any experence keeping Fresh water rays that can give me an idea what they are like to keep.

Thanks in Advance

As long as you start with healthy animals, keep the water clean, and feed them enough to fill their bottomless stomachs they're reasonably easy to keep. They do best on sand (be careful, certain kinds will abrade the ray's delicate underside) with minimal decorations. They do best in soft, neutral to slightly acidic water, but can adapt to harder, more alkaline conditions as long as the change is made gradually the conditions remain stable.

You may also want to take a look at this for more information.

I have always dreamt of keeping leopoldi. I did a ton of research on them about a year ago. But I wont be able to have room for another large tank until I move out of my condo and in to a house. And in this area a cheap house is 500k so I doubt that will be any time soon... hell my friggin condo is worth 300 grand now... this area is way to expensive... and I am really off topic...

yea... you need a tank at least 24Wx18Hx48L at the very smallest. The water needs to be turned over at least twice an hour so in this case I believe that is 180gph. Three times is better. They need perfect water at all times. No nitrates above 5ppm. Nitrite and ammonia at an absolute zero. A rigurous and expensive feeding doctrine. They need to be in at least pairs. (but you can sell their pups for oodles of dough if they breed.)

Umm... yeah I know a fair amount more from my own research so if you have any questions ask away and I may have an answer.
