I have had my B dubia "colony" set up for abt a month and a half. I have seen 2 "sets" of tiny nymphs. I think my set up is fine....just a bit of peat moss in the bottom to fill the groove around the border of the plastic tub, 3 dishes; water crystal, crushed dog kibble and apples....three "pages" or layers of the cardboard fruit dividers (from the fruit store). I use the smallest heat pad during the night, covered with a towel so the plastic doesn't melt. Screen top is soldered into the plastic. OKAY......so where have the nymphs gone? Are dubias canabalistic, ever? I dug throught the peat at the bottom and only found 2 or three, and there were about 15 at last count. I don't see carcasses either.

Any ideas? could they just be hiding in the dirt? again its only about 1/2 inch deep around the perimeter of the bottom.......

I think they are hidden in the substrate!
My B.dubias aren't at all canibalistic when fed sufficiently, when starved they will turn on the freshly molted ones, though.
These roaches can hide in every crack and can stay there for days or even weeks, don't worry about them!
