i was just wondering where i could buy any stick insects online and what you guys would reccomend for me to keep as a beginner with stick insects because my friend had indian stick insects and i really liked them and i cant find any for sale online so if you can give me info on their care and a website where i can buy them from, it would help me greatly.

You can start with these species:
Carausius morosus
Medauroidea extradentata
Phaenopharos khaoyaiensis
They are easy to keep and breed.

Larger phasmids are also a good choice, especially Extatosoma tiaratum and Eurycantha calcarata.

And few websites about phasmids:

http://www.herper.com/insects/phasmids.html
http://www.wwb.co.uk/html/phasmids.html
http://www.amonline.net.au/insects/insects/pets.htm

...and sorry, but I don't know where to buy them online :(

so for a smaller species, how big of a cage would be the minimum requirement? the 2nd page said a large kritter keeper would be fine, so ill prolly go with a smaller species, but i still need to find a place to buy them, so anyone who knows of a place in the US that sells any walking sticks please post info

I've seen them for sale on the classified board at petbugs (http://www.petbugs.com/classifieds/usa-classifieds.html). I'm not sure if there's anyone selling them right now, but they do come up for sale every month or so over there.

I've got a bunch of Indian Stick Insects, and have found them to be the ideal beginner phasamid. Mine have molted into adulthood and should be laying eggs soon =) I keep 25 of them in a 10 gallon aquarium with a screen lid. I think 25 is about the maximum number of adults you should keep in that size cage though.
