so this saturday, someone will be giving me ten nymphs and two adults of a walking stick called "north american walking stick." I do not believe they are the common walking stick, as she said these get eight inches long (not sure if they're including legs or not). would anyone here know how to care for them? she said she gives them rose leaves to eat, they take a few months to grow up, and she believes they are parthenogenetic. that's all I know. how would I go about this?

They may be Megaphasma denticrus? Good ventilation, climbing surfaces all over, and enough of the right plants and you should have success.

I can't give you any advice on care, but if you decide to breed and sell them I'd love some.

hmm... no it doesn't seem to be those. they have an entirely gray body if that helps. I believe they are green when younger, too.

and also Diapheromera covilleae- the creosote walking stick.. these are the three most common species I usually see, and they're almost always misidentified lol
they might actually be Diapheromera covilleae. I have looked at pictures and it looks most like them. thanks for the help smokehound!

If they are, indeed, D covilleae, they'll need creosotebush. You can find creosotebush at places like Lowe's or Home Depot, and nurseries.. Good luck :)
