Anyone know where I can get this species? Does anyone know where I can get other relatively harmless, pretty, true spiders? Any of you breeding your orb weavers or jumpers? :D

Yeah black widows are definately beautiful. I don't think my parents would like it if I got one so it will be a while till I get some. :p I want red widows also.

Widows are really not a big deal to keep at all. I currently have Southern black widows and brown widows. You pretty much have to smash one into your skin to get it to bite! Explaining that to your parents might not be easy.

We have Steotoda all over the place here, and they really do look like widows at first glance. Very abundant around the cricket bin! They're not as colorful as the one in that link, however.

Oh, that sucks. Yeah, I'm sure I could keep the widows with no rpoblem, I just don't think my parents would like that. I should be getting some cool orb weavers this spring/summer, that should be cool.

P.reguis

I've currently got a P.regius tending to an eggsac. I'll keep you posted. Also I've got a S.grossa(like the one used in Spiderman) guarding an eggsac.

I have two L. mactans. I have no problems with them they are easy to keep. I show them alot for educational purposes. I really want a couple of L. reclusa for my collection.

"Cosmetics" were placed on the spider to give it that odd pink and blue color. Don't ask me if the paint came off. Hey did you guy know that steve kusher(the spider wrangler) for spiderman obtained a huntsman spider( genus Delana?) from Australia. How could that be if boarders are closed to collectors?

Zoos, smuggling, museum collections, etc. are some possibilites. There are people who keep Atrax species which are also from Australia, you can find anything if you look hard enough.

Also, there are different rules for invertebrates. Second generation captive bred Australian invertebrates can be exported if properly documented. No Atrax or related species though, as Australian postal regs prohibit mailing these.

Atrax can not be shipped legally but they are in the US and Canada and I am sure many other places.
