I'm still fairly new to the hobby i have one T and would like to get another one that is a fast grower. By the way the T i own already is a Brachypelma smithi. Whats a good one?

first off, you didn't need to post this in both T discussion, and T chat. for further reference, it belongs here, in T. chat. Now, to anwser your question, I would reccomend any of the Avicularia species almost. Particularly A. avicularia and A. versicolor. Both are beautiful from sling to adult, and are fast growers. They're also docile and calm. :) They are arboreal and will require a different kind of set up then your B. smithi as we'll as a bit more humidity.

No worries....just doubles the number of answers you get. ;)

I'd say to get a Lasiodora parahybana. They're a good display T, get to a good size, and eat a lot.

Agreed about the double posting, but honestly I think this forum (T chat) doesn't work well. The other one has way more traffic, which is what people want when they are posting. And there is only so much scientific tarantula discussion (very little) to go around, so it's actually a very general forum. Its aspirations to be a forum for scientists doesn't affect that. Regardless of the intent of the site designer, the other board is the real arachnoboards and this one is where people go who don't know their way around. Basically those of us who use RSS feeds answer posts in this forum, which keeps it semi-alive.

Get an a. Avic, a. Versicolor, or a G. Rosea. All great T's and particularly so for starters.

For an avicularia sp. You need height in the terrarium. They need room to climb and decorations to anchor web and hide in. You'll find plenty of examples of avic enclosures on here. They also need decently warm temperatures (75-85 F) and high humidity (around 80%).

G. Rosea's can be finnicky eaters so it could be fast growing if you get a good eater. But I think they're beautiful, docile, and in my experience a lot of fun when they start to rennevate.

I agree on getting an Avic. Though, do a lot of research first! They are basically the complete opposite of your B. smithi.

Get a A Geniculata. Eat like pigs. Grows like hell. Avicularias are a little to fragile creatures.

l will copy and paste my answer :D
l think A.geniculata will be better,l got both of them as a sling.since l bought them A.geniculata molted 5 times but my L.parahybana molted only 2 times.
thats the reason why l said A.geniculata.
go for A.geniculata
