Anybody keep Pyxicephalus adsperus(or Pixie frogs,African Bullfrogs)? Does anybody know how to sex them or is the coloration of the underbelly/forelimbs viable(ie creamy white for female in season, bright yellow for male in season)? And if they know of a retailer/breeder that sells them as a larval stage(ie tadpoles)?

Males have a yellowish throat area, while females are white. I have kept them, but never bred them.

I've never seen them in larval stages but I bet that would be an interesting transition to watch! If you find some, please post pics!

Sexing them by throat color is no where near viable. Male have wider heads and longer front "arms". They also have more pronounced "elbows". Female have smaller, pointier snouts with short stubby front "arms".

Size sexing cannot be accurate, as size can depend on genetics and differences in egg temp and larval development.

DNA testing is probably the only true accurate way, but I believe closest to accurate would be color sexing.
