Great looking little snakes! The Granite Spotteds that I saw were pretty sweet IMO.

They sure were. I almost bought a pair of those, but I wasn't sure how they looked as adults. After looking them up on the internet, I think I made the right decision with the regular Spotted ones. The Granites don't retain their pattern very well.

congrats, i had a trio of spotteds for alot of years. main thing i learned with them was they tend to view any warm thing that moves as food untill proven otherwise, especially in their cage. they were generally quite easy to handle but i lost track of how many times i was bit through the years though 90% of the time it was: they strike, realize my finger/hand doesnt taste like a mouse and immediately let go and i wouldnt get nailed again till the next time i took them out. good thing they were a small snake. would hate to mess with a 12 footer with that attitude. ive had alot of ppl confirm that my spotteds were quite normal with this attitude. but they have small teeth that rarely got through the callus's on my hands and when they did there was minimal bleeding. never really hurt much at all.

I know exactly what you mean. The day that I bought these, I took them to a friend’s house to show them off. While my friend was holding one, his three year old son decided to wiggle his finger in front of the snakes head; just as I was about to tell him he shouldn’t do that, he got a quick nip on the finger. The teeth did not even break the skin, but it spooked him into crying. :)

Are these in the childrens python complex? I always feed my python in a seperate container so she does not associate the opening of her cage with food.

yes..............and so did i BUT they still viewed warm things as food until proven otherwise. i always fed them in seperate containers cause all 3 shared the same cage. once they smell food they started biting most anything that moved including each other. even with this i still got bit on occation. most ppl ive talk with that have been around them consider them to be a nippy snake. out of the 3 i had one that rarely bit but the other two nailed me more times than i can remember. but they are a small snake and i was told when i started keeping pythons that i would get bit. if you dont want to be bit dont work with pythons. i had a black blood phyton that was dang near psycotic in its hatred for ppl.........i was faster than him though, took precautions and never got nailed. the spotteds, given their small size, i never took precautions and just accepted the fact i would loose s lil blood. i just kept them away from my face as my lips while i was talking or my eyelid would attract their attentions quite quickly. its a wierd feeling to have a snake a lil bigger than the size of a pencil hanging from your eyelid...............still wish i would of had some one take a picture of that whole episode :D
