He's really light, isn't he? I have a seven-foot+ male, but he almost looks like a Mangrove Snake compared to yours! I think it's pretty funny when they do that neck-flattening display, though. Mine has never done that, though he does love to vibrate his tail. He is pretty calm for a Spilotes, actually quite handleable once you get him out of the cage, but I wish he had a much white and yellow as your boy does!

This one is a wuss once he's in my hand and has never bitten me. My hatchlings from last year (of one of the more common Spilotes color forms) bite at almost every opportunity. My adults are calm, like yours. Lots of rattling, and the female showed me the threat display once, which is very disconcerting when in hand, since they're so big (female is 9'-10') they can pretty much bite you wherever they want. I had to learn early on to not handle them anywhere near the tarantula shelves; they go immediately for whatever looks solid and nearly knocked a few cages off before I learned.

The one in the photo has been fading from orange/yellow with a bit of white to more of a yellow/white with a bit of orange. I don't really have a preference; he looks good either way.
