I suggest you think why you want one, and realize they are not pets that one handles.

for spiders- Jumpers make fascinating animals to own as they are visual hunters.

tarantulas- compare to Jumpers are BORING, it’s like owning a rock that you have to feed.

G pulchripes is the best beginner available.

Jumping spiders are extremely entertaining imo. Especially the larger ones like Phidippus audax/regal. Common tan/brown jumping spiders are every around me, but a little straining on the eyes being harder to see.

Platycryptus undatus get quite big. Adult size is around an inch.
