Reminds me of when I was backpacking in Australia in 2008 and ran across a massive golden orb weaver north of Cairns. Almost walked face first into it!

Almost walked face first into it!

Been there, done that. If you displace the spider entirely out of the web and can't find or safely catch her just stand still for a while. She will drop to the ground and go hunting for a place to make a new web. Very unlikely she will climb around on you trying to get back to her web. Bur you might get lucky. When they walk on strange terrain like your skin or clothing they are a study in dainty and cautious. This one ever so gently poked and stroked my finger for almost a minute before deciding to not climb on it. Very charming endearing animals.
