Hi all. I started 6 years ago with my frist TS. Brachypelma auratum. It turned out to be male ..... as it was already sub-adult I couldn't enjoy him for a long time.
Then I got me a 0.1 Acanthoscurria geniculata. This one got sick and only had it for a year or so.
I thought .. maybe don't have just one spider ... If it's in pre-molt no eating .. what to do with the food .....

So beginning off this year i got myself 0.0.2 Acanthoscurria geniculata
A.geniculata1.jpg
This one didn't molt yet.
The second one did last week.
A.geniculata2.jpg
Hard picture to see. But it got his colours (white knees)

Last weekend there was a reptile show here and I bought a few more as 2 was still nog enough :D AFter a lot off reeding i got the next spiders.
Still very small but a 0.0.1 Brachypelma boehmei
B.boehmei.jpg

I also was in love with the 0.0.1 Grammostola pulchra
G.Pulchra.jpg

And I felt in love with the adult Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens
As they are also very great as a sling .. I got 2 in the hope one is female.
C.cyaneopubenscens.jpg

As i was looking into the different colours and spiders I also checked the next two. I found them both on the show.
0.0.1 Grammostola pulchripes
G.pulchripes.jpg
(picture was from before rehousing).

0.0.1 Neoholothele incei "gold"
N.incei-gold.jpg

And I had one empty home .... I bought a 0.0.1 Hapalopus spec.Colombia big just from his looks and the info I was told on the show.
H.spec.Colombia.jpg

My girlfriend loves the Caribena versicolor .... so we reserved some at a big show next weekend. Then we will get 5 off them. This pictures is from the seller.

Ik will keep this thread alive after every molt for the updates.
Or when I get something new.

I have been working on rehousing some off my spiders.
I am working on my M.balfouri communnal ...
Mbalfouri1.jpg

The left one needs more substrate and will be for my big N.chromatus female.

As the substrate is drying I am working on the next batch.

NieuweTerra.jpg

But I did not have enough substrate lol ... So another batch is working as I type here :D.
After the other 2 terra I have 5 more that I need to rehouse.
G.iheringi, A.geniculata, L.striatipes, B.auratum and an B,albiceps.
So I have one empty? :D. Well. There is one more empty left from the M.balfouri but those are bigger and are reserved for the big females. Maybe I can put the biggest A.geniculata in there instead of the 30x30.

I do have 2 Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens. They are in bigger plastic bins.
If I would be any good in checking the sex off the spiders I could move a female.
But I have no idea. They both molted recently but they keep killing the molt or hide it under the webbing.

Normal I don't mind not knowing. You will see if it turns male or not :D.
But which one should I move to their adult enclosure if the are big enouhg? Or should I just move both?
I do have some extra exo-terra but I bought them second hand with all stuff still inside so they need a big clean.

Well. Let's focus on the substrate first :D. I do have a G.iheringi male that is almost adult .... I keep it in a plastic bin but maybe move that one to.

MORE SUBSTRATE first.

I am such an idiot.

I never use exo-terra. They are expensive and they have to top that need replacing else the spider can be stuck on top and lose a leg.
I had a guy that made glas terra exactly as I want with higer front before the door, great quality. I have around 30 from him.
This year he died. His son wants to take his work over, but not this year, maybe not even 2024.

So .... the whole year I was buying second hand exo-terra 30x30 if the price was right. 2 times I got a batch for 11 and one for 6. In total I have 25 now.

After the upgrade off the spider room last sumer I have place to put animals in the new enclosures.
I don't have top replacements yet. I will do that in december when my endyear bonus is in.
So last weet I did 5 already, and 6 terra are ready for upcoming week.

BUT .... yesterday i was sitting in the spider room and what do I see ... My B.klassi female hanging on 1 leg on the top off the enclosure .....
OMG .... you are in there 4 days .... and now already stuck? So i freed her and she is walking again with no injury.
BUT ..... I can not wait till december. I thought I would have time ... I won't be so unlucky it happens so fast right ......
WRONG. So I just orderd 25 new tops for all the enclosures and hope they arive soon.

So today only the 2 rehousings will happen that are nog going into an exo-terra.

Today the new top came in and I changed 7 tops. Maybe I do 2 more but probarbly 2morrow.
After feeding today I took a few pictures again.

A.geniculata, a female.
Ageniculata.jpg
A.seemanni female.
Aseemanni.jpg
B.boehmei sex unknown. I got her as a little tiny fh1 sling. It's ok if it's a male, I do have an adult female. If this turns out female, I keep her. Not for any amount she's leaving.
Bboehmei.jpg
P. sp antonious. One off the newest additions.
Pantinous.jpg
P.murinus "Usambra" just molted.
Pmurinus.Usambara.jpg
T.albopilosus female
Talbopilosus.jpg
T.kahlenbergi. Not growing very fast.
Tkahlenbergi.jpg
X. sp Bright. Getting a bit bigger ...

My Lasiodora striatipes is now about 8cm body? I got the molt and as she is so big I could figure out the sex (it is a lady).
But I have so many I don't know the sex from and I would love to do a better job. So I ordered a stereo microscope so I can check the molts. Even if they are turned and scrambled with a scope you still can see a lot.

This is her after the molt.

Lstriatipes.jpg

In the beginning I bought 2 or 3 slings from a species so now I have 2 or 3 juvi's and don't know the sex from.
I am not going to keep them all if 2 are female ........ I think :D. Well some not .. I have 3 B.albiceps. One is female. One is probarbly female but not checked on molt. And one sling. i might want to part with the second female, but not the small one whatever it turns out in as I had it as tiny little sling.
BalbicepsSling.jpg

This is her now after last molt.

BalbicepsJuvi.jpg

And no idea what sex

It is cool to see how peoples collections grow and especially how their tank setups evolve :)

Happen to have more pics of your Bumba?

Here is where she was this morning. She's getting fat :D.
She dug all the way down to the bottom off the enclosure, but I never see her in it.

Cheers! they really are a gorgeous animal! the more pics I see the more I love them.

it's so weird, as a tarantula they are everything I dont normally like. but as a non tarantula they are everything i love (eg. Macrothele being one of my favorite genera outside the taranutlas).

they really hit that sweet spot on both ends. hard to describe. But your pics really just make me love them more. the growing up and before and after is really cool to see.

Or maybe it's just cause this genus is incredibly new to me. But I am really falling hard in love with the guys. Even if they arent as showy as my all time favourites, pokies, I have the same gut feeling for some reason. thanks for the pics, really enjoy them!

I see this one much more than my pokies. Atleast ... P.metallica I see sometimes (once a month), P.rufilata I see never (one time since I got her). Only my P.regalis is always outside.
Many tarantula dig ... I got this one because my girlfiend likes dwarf species.

After changing all the tops off the exo-terra I can rehouse some bigger spiders again ....

I will design 2 enclsoures for now. One for the P. sp mascara juvi. Not sure if it's male or female. I hope a female as the other one is a mature now for already a year now.
Hope this one turns into female .. but we'll see.

I also have a female H.baviana in a large enclosure. She does not like it. She created a corner behind a fake plant and she does not move at all. She does not eat every time and I have the feeling she does not feel at home.
So I will create a new and a smaller home (One off these 30x30 exo terra). With extra hiding spots, fake plants and enough room to feel save. The bigger one will be cleaned and when a bigger one needs a new home like a Phormictopus it will be house in there.

I first have to rehouse some smaller ones. I have a few that are still in their small slingpots. 5 need a bigger home. I already rehoused a small I.mira but the second one looks in molt so she will be rehoused after the molt.
I wanted to make a good picture of the I.mira but the battery was to low so i'll do that later.
