I'd say that depends a lot on the growth rate and size of the species. A 2" B smithi would more than likely be a couple of years old already, while a 2" A genic much much younger. A B smithi might still be under half an inch as a yearling while that A genic is going to be huge. A 2-3" Cyclosternum fasciatum I would consider a juvenile while a 2" T blondi is a baby in comparison.

Size isn't a good determinant (there are tarantulas that are less than 1" at maturity).

Slings, for me, stop being slings when they start look liking minature tarantulas and have at least some of their adult coloration in. They are then juveniles and once they have full adult coloration and more than half of their adult size I refer to them as sub-adults.

What are you measuring?

I assume you are not measuring the legs...

Generally speaking in the hobby, when refering to size, it's the leg length that's measured, not body length. If one is refering to body size, it's usually stipulated "body length" otherwise it's pretty much a given that if I say I have a 7+ inch T. blondi, I'm refering to the length from the tip of leg 1 to the tip of leg 4....not her body size.

Granted, if I had a blondi that was 7+ inches in body....I'd be rich :D
