Okay so this is like a 2/3 part question, first of all can someone help me identify my spider (see images attatched) ? i’m having trouble distinguishing it from a red back or a common cupboard spider as they both look so alike. Secondly it’s created an egg sac so i know she’s female but how do i care of the egg sac and once it’s hatched how do i look after the tiny little slings? food water etc

P.S i live in melbourne, australia if that helps at all

Thanks

Look closely. Hasselti has a unique conjoined double diamond on it's back. Once very mature it turns into a broad almost uniform band. It reaches from just in front of mid abdomen all the way to the spinnerets.

As for the sac, mommy spider is the expert. Best move is once the sac is fully mature to remove it and put it in a sealed container. The slings need very little air. Let them cannibalize each other until a few specimens remain then give them their own containers. Or once hatched, just open the container where you would like a few more spiders.

Do you have a better picture? I think Badumna insignis is a common spider in your area...

The image you posted does not appear to be L. hasselti but it is hard to tell without clearler images.

Is there an hourglass underneath her?

Regarding your egg sac inquiry: as the sac gets closer to hatching you will see it get darker and you will be able to see the eggs with legs if you shine a flashlight at the proper angle.
