I saw this on my bathroom floor and couldn't believe the size of it. Legspan was atleast 2 inches, albeit thin legs and a smallish body. Still not a spider you see everyday in the United Kingdom... so I captured it and took some snaps. I released it right afterwards...

I thought somebody might be interested. Although I won't hold my breath.

I think its a male of one of the Tenegaria species either T. duellica or T.gigantia, they are impressively large although quite common.

Hi,

i second that, a male of some Tegenaria spec.

2 inches is a rather standard-size for those. I´ve seen males of this genus with a 3 inch around here.

In contrary to my liking to many hunting-spiders, i dislike the Tegenaria, somehow they give me the creeps :-/

Greetings,

Stefan

Yeah, it's legspan could easily have been 3 inches, I thought I'd give a conservative estimation though, as I can't be sure.

It was a very big and very impressive spider. I noticed it right away. The way it was standing before I captured it was very cool and it was as fast as lightning. Quite a formidable predator I'd assume.

I tried feeding it a hopper, but it was too frantic and thus not interested. I wonder if it has been feeding off escapee feeders though? Alot of the time small hoppers will escape when I am transferring them into my main feeder tank (from their small tubs), or when I am capturing one to feed my scorps...

Who knows, right? Thanks for the responses guys.
