Found this on the floor in my living room. Anyone know what it is? I live in Central Alabama. The spider is around 1" legspan, give or take an 1/8". The missing leg was missing when I found the spider. It doesn't appear to be a mature male.

Reminds me of the Gnaphosid genus Sergiolus but I have no idea what species that would be. Cool looking!

Ah, you are correct, it's Castianeira amoena. Not an ant mimic itself but closely related to some.

Info from bugguide.net shows that that are in the family Corinnidae, which is composed of ant mimics and ground sac spiders.

Thanks for the help guys. Most colorful true spider I have ever seen in person, in Alabama at that.

I know it's so pretty! I think I've seen pics of this spider before on some websites although I don't remember which ones though. Good to know what kind of spider this is though. Lovely colors! ♥

Are you keeping it?

No, I couldn't get it to eat anything for me, so I let it go in my back yard.

Aw well at least you got to see the pretty thing. Hope I see one. I love the patterns on them and velvety look on the skin.
