The Evil Cat Lords, of Spiders Taste Good, tried to destroy this Unknown Spider, the Unfailing Cricket Destroyer. Perhaps a H. carolinensis?

While having a little silly fun, it's also no joke. My cats do like to eat spiders, and this little bugger murders crickets. I dropped one in there (when I dropped it in she completley ignored it) and when I came back around 45min later the cricket was ripped into 3 or four peices. I vividly remember the corpse was decapitated  Not really even eaten, just ripped up. Very cool. She must've given the cats a run for their money.

I don't think it's a hogna. The stripes on the thorax generally indicate a Rabida species. Just remember that it needs a water supply, not just what it sucks out of prey. A little jar cap about half full, perhaps.

It's been moved around a few times, in the past it's been listed in both Lycosa and Hogna, but currently it's Rabidosa.

Definitely a Rabidosa rabida. The thin diagonal stripes between the lengthwise bars distinguish between R. rabida and R. punctulata, ( which is otherwise extremeley difficult to tell from rabida ), and make this a rabida.
