Spider ID please

I was out in my front yard, and this spider had made a web that was approximately 3' by 4'. The spider is large, about 2 inches.
I did the best I could with the photo, however, I needed external lighting to get a pic and it kind of washed her out.
If anyone can provide an ID, it would be appreciated.
By the way, I live in Newport News, Virginia (South eastern portion of Virginia)

Well, the audobon guide shows that exact spider as "Orb weaver" without any more specific information.

Araneus is probably the genus, but that doesn't help much as there's over 1,500 in that genus!

Sort of does ines but all i know is it`s an orb weaver..
I`m not much help either!
