Hi can anyone tell me what species of spider this is. I suspect it hitched a ride to Guam on some cargo as it was found in a freight yard. Cargo from pretty much everywhere in the world arrives there. So it’s hard to narrow where it came from. It doesn’t look like any species of spider thats found on island.

Definitely a black orb weaver of sorts, maybe Araneus ventricosus?

This might be helpful.

Funny thing is the spider in the article looks just like the one in your pic and you say you saw it near the shipping harbor. 🤔

They might be some sort of mygalomorph. The cargo they were found in is from Korea.

Another escaped species? That is concerning.

It was found in a freight yard where all of the cargo arrives on aircraft on the opposite side of the island where our shipping harbor is located. I guess it is another escaped species.
