Hello again. My bf works at Walmart in western NC. While doing freight, he found this little guy and caught it for me. My insect app says it's a pantropical jumping spider, but I'm not sure how accurate the app is. My bf currently has it in a deli container and is going to bring it home when he gets off work in about an hour. The pics below are the ones he's sent me while at work. If the little guy is pantropical, is there anything I need to know specifically about care and enclosure? Or are they similar in care to Audax and Regius? Pantropicals are not native here. If it is one. Thanks in advance. Update: the little guy is a crab spider, but not sure what kind or where it's native to.

Here's a little bigger close up of the pic he sent. Seems a little less blurry on my phone. I'll take more when he gets home.

Update: It appears my bf got a crab spider. He found it on the side of a box in their stockroom. Anyone familiar with these little guys?

Make a lot more holes take a paper towel dampen it and make it a circle flip it upside down the deli cup so the spider will go to the top and you can change the paper towel everyday. Get some melongastar fruit flies from petco petsmart or local pet store

It's been moved to a bigger critter cup with a vented lid. The one in the picture is what it was brought home in. It's for sure a crab spider, but not sure what kind or where it's native to.

North Carolina does have crab spiders, but none I've seen look like this little guy. Pretty sure it traveled from out of state in the freight boxes, but I could be wrong. More pics below. My insect app is now calling it a common crab spider that has a palearctic, UK, and Icelandic distribution, but he/she was in the storage room on a box in our local Walmart storage room. Not sure where all the shipments came from, though.

So I've noticed lol. Still pretty sure this little guy isn't native to NC. I guess care is basically the same for the majority of them, though.
I dont see any reason it wouldn’t be, Xysticus as a genus are very common in North Carolina. Given the location it was found in though with the shipping stuff, it’s possible it hitched a ride, but still, no way to really be certain haha.

I've lived in NC all my life and have never seen a crab spider and all the ones I've seen pictured for NC look nothing like this guy. I don't even know if it's a juvenile, adult, male, or female. It doesn't help that my camera takes decent pictures only half the time. I've got it currently in one of the cups with a vented lid with some substrate at the bottom and a couple of artificial leaves for it to hang out on. I put a couple fruit flies in there earlier and about a minute ago, it was crawling around on the substrate. Update: I did finally find a similar one in NC. Looks like we do have ground grab spiders and this little guy seems to like the substrate. One site mentioned Xysticus ferox.

I’ve lived in NC all my life as well :) If you are out looking, they are extremely common, many different types here. Some like to sit on flowers and wait for prey to come by, others pretend to be bark. There are tons of different ones to find

Wow, just realized you're about an hour away from where I live. Idk, I've never seen the ground or tan ones that I know of and I've spent a lot of time outdoors. I may have to go looking around my yard more now lol. They're neat little spiders.

Oh yeah, they may not be seen much but if you go out looking, they are easy to spot. Here are some I’ve found over the years
