I was wondering what kinds of feeders folks feed their Sphodros spiders. I have a Sphodros abboti who doesn’t seem to be very interested in eating mealworms (she hasn’t eaten in a month) and I can’t stand crickets, but I’ll buy some if that’s what people have been having success with.

What type of strategies have you been using to feed the spider? Because that could have some effect on the reason it refuses to eat.

I’ve been leaving them on top of where the spider seems to be and wiggling them a little. Should I try to simulate more feeder motion?

That method rarely works with non-tarantula mygs, as much as you might hate crickets I think that's what you'll find works best

Thank you! I just really hate the smell and having to worry about them dying off super fast 😅
A medium tub with high ventilation and a layer of vermiculite on the bottom can keep them going mostly odor free for a while as long as they have access to a clean water dish, if I buy mediums or larges I will put a tub of damp peat moss inside their container so they lay eggs and I get a second lot of crickets out of 1 purchase
