People always wonder about importing and think people doing it some how make a bunch of money. Well I can tell you we don't and every once in a while something really really bad can happen then you have this. This is only a couple of pictures of the hundreds that died. Very painful considering most where very rare spiders. Thankfully the German dealer is going to work with me to get new spiders but it still doesn't make it feel any better.

no doubt

Yeah there are a lot more spiders in Germany I wanted to buy but until I straighten this mess out I can't afford them.

yeah

This was the first time the box was shipped to a 3rd party in Germany before coming here. There was a miscommunication and too many heat packs where added. Spiders all cooked even know the temps where cold.

That really sucks. I was really looking forward to a lot of the Ts, and I'm sure many others were too. Poor things (Ts) Let me know when you will try for another import and I will gladly support you.

Exactly

I can care less about the Money I have been waiting for these P vespertinum and X sp white's for so long. It is really sad what happened but the thread has two points.
1. Sometimes people don't understand the value and risks of importing so this is just showing the negatives of what can happen.
2. The other point would be packing better so stuff like this doesn't happen.

This was and odd occurance and the first time one of my imports went bad and is was very tough on me. Dealing in anything live and shipping can create problems if proper care is not taken. Hopefully I will never have to do this again. One of the hardest things I've had to do was take photos but they where required.

I happened to notice the keep warm, live animals sticker. You dont think there was some intentional shaking going on by the shippers do ya?

but it was indicated 20 degree C. so they could've at least have a range on what temperature to keep the box on.. ;)

anyway sorry for your loss.. I hope this thing won't happen to others.. It's sad to see dead T's in a package.. :(

Yeah, it's a risky gamble importing live, delicate creatures from so far away. And, if not compensated for, one shipment like this can wipe out years of painstaking investment.
I'm just glad that you, and the few people like you with the right connections, are still willing to do it so the rest of us can have the awesome variety of Ts that we have today, not to mention those yet to come. Xenesthis sp. white..
And those pics were painful just to look at, I can't imagine having to line their little bodies up to take them. And so soon after the Dave Love fiasco. You've definitely got fortitude and stamina, I'll give you that, James. You have no real luck to mention, but you've got fortitude and stamina.:worship: :worship: :worship:

Man, what a horrible thing to find; I know you waited for so long and had to jump through so many hoops to bring in this shipment, friend.
We are so sorry to hear this crushing news. :( :( :(

Bless you for hanging in there, and thanks for putting yourself through it. We all benefit from your efforts. :worship:
