So I just checked on my pet rat. I've had her for about a month. She was rescued from being snake food.(from my snake) she has seemed perfectly fine. Lively, very curious and energetic. I had her out yesterday for about 6 hrs or so and she was just fine. And she seemed fine this morning when I checked on her before class. I just checked on her and she seems to either be blind or have a neurological problem. She walks in circles and seems to be searching. She also stumbles and can't climb. The only thing that has changed is I got her some little wood shapes to chew on and some actual rat food. I had been making my own by mixing bird seed, nuts, oats, and drying fruit in my oven. I'm really worried since it has come on so suddenly, and I won't be able to take her to the vet because I'm going out of town tomorrow. Have any of you had something like this happen? I've had rodents of all kinds before and I've never seen this.
Edit: Well, I researched my rat's symptoms and she most likely has an inner ear infection. Just have to get a steroid shot and a round of antibiotics from my vet. I'm glad it's nothing incredibly serious.
