The Ancylometes are quite big, about 10cm.

Hi Eric,

thanks for your reply!

Did you happen to see ctenids in the size-range of 15 to 20cm legspan?

I´m asking this cause since some weeks there´s a Ancylometes species offered at the german-market which grows quite big, body-size around 5cm and more, legspan 15cm and more...

I managed to get hold of some slings of this monster. As my babies did a molt again, i´m gonna update my thread about this species soon. I really wonder what more monster-sized hunting-spiders are running free over there unnotized by mankind.

Greetings,

Stefan

Hi,
No, the bigger spiders I've seen in Guyana are (except tarantulas) Trechalea sp (Trechaleidae, about 15cm), Ancylometes (10cm) and Ph.fera (10cm).
Looking forward to see your monster :)
Cheers,
Eric

LOL, don´t be surprised, they´re still small, as they´re now in their 3rd skin i suppose...

Some years back i got a wc P. fera female from french-guyane which was quite huge. That lady had body-size of 4cm and something around 15-16cm legspan. A fellow hobbyist which i knew at that time also had some males of that particular species which were even bigger by legspan, talk about 18cm ! !

Until the appearance of this "new" Ancylometes spec. that had been the by far biggest "true" spiders i´ve ever seen.

Greetings,

Stefan
