Spider crawling around on my girl friends floor, captured and photographed with our new camera. I'm guessing it's a grass spider.

Nice pics :)
I think that's actually some type of male wolf spider you have there. Grass spiders have much smaller eyes, and really long spinnerets.

Yea I have like 200 grass spiders within 15 yards of my house, that was not one of them.

I'll go with male wolf as well. I have collected those guys in the past. Very nice spider mate!

The two top eyes look a little too big to be Tegenaria, and it was a long way away from water to be a fisher...

yea, deffinately a wolf spider.

they are pretty cool, and sometimes get kinda big.

they are the only kind of spider I've ever been bitten by.

first time(yes, it happened more than once)
when I was a kid, I found one that had aparently drowned,
for some stupid reason I thought CPR would work(well, I guess it did! hhaha), so I put it on it's back, and started poking it's thorax. All of a sudden, all eight legs rap around my finger and I feel a the sting. DOH!

second time, I reached into a bucket, not really watching, and grabbed one in a handful of seeds. it was a mother, with lots of babies on it's back, so I guess she was being protective.

both times was like a bee sting, it was bearable. no aftereffects.

try google image searching Lycosidae
I think it's close.
there's so many different varieties though.

The next time I find a giant wolf spider in my basement maybe I should keep it instead of letting it go outside :)

Fishing spiders arn't neccesarily found close to water, Dolomedes Tenebrosus have been found long distances away from water, in sheds, my house, and bathtubs, also up in trees, and on the side of fences.

I found mike in my house. and a few others outside of it. I'm not near water.
Take care

Also that spider does look like a male Lycosa spp. I'm not sure of the species though, but good luck!
