What was the tortoise in for?
Deobstipation. Owners had rescued it from a place where it was allowed to roam the house and eat anything under the sun, including non-food items. I shared my lunch (fruits and veggies) with it for a few days before it went home.

FYI: tortoises do not take liquid oral meds well... comes back at you through their nose in a projectile fashion!

This! Had to give oral dewormer for a Russian that was delivered with pin worms. The vet couldn't even get his mouth open so I guess he thought I'd have better luck.

My favorite ones on there are the pig, male ram, and the owl. Very cute piggy. I'd like to say they look sorta like potbelly pigs. but not a pig expert. :p wonder what peoples reaction is when they notice a pig walking in a vets office.

I was wondering if anyone still kept Ossabaw Island hogs! I had a sow many years ago who actually, believe it or not, used to ride in the pickup bed with my hog-hunting Catahoulas and APBTs! She could easily jump into the back of the S10, a vary agile piggy indeed. They're basically miniature wild boars, just as fast. Fully-grown, she would fit into a #400 dog crate easily and I could still pick her up. She was extremely smart-had a deep hatred of cigarettes, though, and would bite anyone she caught smoking one! If someone dropped a lit cigarette on the ground anywhere near her, she'd shovel dirt over it with her snout and put it out! She didn't look at all like a Potbelly, but was lean and had long legs, those shaggy, tufted ears and this REALLY long snout, which caused more than one person who saw her to ask me if she was an anteater, lol.

I wanted and still "want" to keep a pig since a kid. Kinda learning about them through a farm made me want one. But I decided that if "anything" it would be "another time, another place". lol. Meaning mostlikely won't own one cause I'm thinking about its needs like where would it sleep, what would I do to excersice it, etc. etc. Pigs are really gosh darn cute even the really really big piggies.

But yeah. Someone told me that there's a pig the size of a dog. lol. A medium sized dog that is. That'd be sweet to own. Since pigs are pretty smart. But yeah alot of work. Gotta give applause to those who successfully keep them. And if I ever own a large property ill be able to keep stuff like that and give them the room they need. Maybe. But maybe not.

The pyramiding on the tortoises' scutes looked pretty bad, any other issues/side-effects with MBD in this one? Mobility difficulty, Renal issues or Bladder stones?

Junk food, improper exercise and poor hydration were suspected as causes of the pyramiding. No evidence of MBD. The material causing the colon impaction included what appeared to be fish tank gravel. On radiograph the fecal material was as radio-dense as the skeleton, which appeared normal. We let her wander around the clinic for a couple days with free access to water, good hay and my lunches... No problem whatsoever with mobility! She was producing normal poops at discharge and reportedly continues to do well at home. Neat critter!
